EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

Sunday April 19, 2026

Hello EIMS ModFH Players & Families! Congratulations to players and coaches for a well-played game on Friday vs Pittsford Barker Road MS. It is always tough for a small team (EIMS: 14 players) to play against such a large team (BRMS: 35 players). They had constant subs and, due to injuries, we had as few as 1 or 2 subs. Despite all that, our players worked hard and never gave up. Good plays were happening all over the field among our EIMS players. Katie in goal had 12 saves, which was excellent — especially for her first game ever!

——

TWO GAMES THIS WEEK

We have two games this week: The first game is Weds 4/22 AWAY at 5pm at Pittsford Thornell Farm Park; and the second game is Sat 4/25 HOME at 9am vs Fairport (players arrive at EHS stadium at 8am!!). PLEASE read through the game day details below so that you know what to expect each game day.

——

FEWER PLAYERS THIS WEEK DUE TO INJURIES (and what that means for practices and games)

Our EIMS FH team has 14 players. Unfortunately, we may have 3 players injured. That means we could be playing our games this week with just 11 players. Given this situation, it is VERY important that players arrive to practice 100% dressed for practice (including shin guards & socks, shoes, hair tied back). We recommend that players bring a healthy snack for after school and that they eat that snack BEFORE arriving at EHS. Practices will begin as soon as players get off the shuttle bus and will continue through to 5pm (even if we have to leave stadium turf due to the track meets that are scheduled this week). Monday and Tuesday practices will be VERY IMPORTANT for all payers! Some players may need to be learning a new position this week. We hope to see 100 participation among players at all practices and games this week!

ANY PLAYER NOT RIDING TEAM BUS BACK TO EHS ON WEDNESDAY 4/22 — PARENT NEEDS TO GET PERMISSION FROM ATHLETIC OFFICE 24 HRS IN ADVANCE

ALL FH players are expected to ride the team bus to and from AWAY games. If family circumstances necessitate that a player not ride the team bus to or from an AWAY game, a parent must email the Athletic Department (athletics@eastiron.org) at least one day IN ADVANCE to obtain permission for the player to be transported by a parent instead. Coach Posella and Coach Evans cannot allow a player to not ride the team bus unless the Athletic Department’s permission is obtained in advance. This is a school district rule.

Email: athletics@eastiron.org

A SPECIAL NOTE TO FAMILIES WHO HAVE PLAYERS IN TH EIMS MUSICAL: We are expecting that all players who are also in the musical will still attend our AWAY game on Wednesday 4/23. We know that you have musical rehearsal that evening. We are hoping Ms. Borello will be flexible on what time you arrive at rehearsal. CAR POOLING OPTION: It might be a good idea for parents of players who are in the musical to try to organize carpooling back to EHS after the game in Pittsford. We would allow players to leave immediately after the game ends so that they can get back to EHS ASAP. Just REMEMBER to get permission from the athletic office by Tuesday afternoon if you will be taking your player back to EHS for musical rehearsal OR if you have arranged for your player to carpool with another FH family. (NOTE: We know that the EIMS musical takes top priority next week. We will be flexible on practice attendance for players in the musical next week (Mon 4/27 - Fri 5/1). In addition, we moved two games away from next week so that there will be no additional pressure on players and families in that regard as well.)

WEATHER THIS WEEK

  • Please continue to monitor the weather EACH DAY and make sure your player is prepared for what is forecast.

  • This week looks like we will experience a few chilly days and few warmer days.

  • It could be rainy some days as well.

  • Please make sure your player is prepared! (Monday looks especially chilly… please make sure your player has some warm clothes… sweatpants, sweatshirt, hat, gloves, jacket, etc…)

——

MANAGING PLAYER EQUIPMENT

  • Our EIMS ModFH players are required to take personal responsibility in managing their FH equipment.

  • We provide players with string bags to help them with this task.

  • Players MUST bring the following items to EVERY practice and game:

    • FH stick

    • FH string bag

    • Mouth guard

    • Shin guards

    • Goggles (if choosing to wear them)

    • Appropriate footwear (sneakers, turf shoes or non-metal cleats).

  • WATER BOTTLE: Players are also responsible for having a full water bottle at every practice and game (which will be very importnt as temps heat up this week).

  • APPROPRIATE CLOTHING: Players are also responsible for wearing appropriate clothing to practice that allows them to be comfortable and to move freely.

——

IF A PLAYER IS GOING TO BE LATE — OR MISS — A PRACTICE OR GAME

  • It is the obligation of all EIMS ModFH players/families to notify coaches in writing. — in advance — if a player will be late or will miss a practice or game.

  • We also need to know the reason why.

  • Players can notify through the Microsoft TEAMS “EIMS ModFH Group” by replying to Coach Evans’ daily FH post.

  • Parents can text Coach Fischer 585-233-2105.

We Raised More Than $1,100!

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. As part of our Lancer Field Hockey Cares initiative, EHS JV field Hockey Coaches Posella and Evans took the lead in organizing a Lancer Field Hockey fundraiser to benefit The Willow Domestic Violence Center. Through online donations as well as selling donuts (donated by Donuts Delite) and having a gift basket raffle during our FH games on 10/16, the team succeeded in raising more than $1,100 to benefit Willow. Lancer Field Hockey is a long-time supporter of The Willow Domestic Violence Center, having raised well over $7,000 for the organization since 2014.

Thank you EHS FH players, families, coaches, as well as friends & alum of EHS FH, for supporting our community service efforts!!

We are pleased to announce that our Fall 2024 Lancer FH team once again earned NYS Scholar Athlete Team honors. This is the 12th year in a row that our team has achieved this honor. FALL 2024: SECTION V FH TEAM SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD!

This is the fourth time in the past 12 years that Lancer FH has received the Section V Team Sportsmanship Award (2014, 2019, 2022, 2024). The award is voted on by the Greater Rochester Field Hockey Umpire Board. Coach Cooper and Coach Fischer work hard to keep our EHS FH program moving in a positive direction. We are grateful for our awesome players, fantastic parents and supportive Athletic Department. This award recognizes the efforts of players, coaches, parents and our school district in pursuing good character and sportsmanship within athletic programs and in athletic competitions.

FALL 2024: UNITED WE SUCCEED

FALL 2023: SECTION V (DIV 2) COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR

Lancer Field Hockey Coaches Cooper and Fischer were honored to be named the Fall 2023 Section V Division II Coaching Staff of the Year by our fellow Section V field hockey coaches. It is a testament to the great improvement our very young varsity team made throughout the Fall 2023 season! (DID YOU KNOW? Coach Fischer was also named Section V Division II Coach of the Year in Fall 2016. That was another season of great improvement for our Lancers and also a season in which Coach Fischer coached BOTH the varsity and JV teams.)
