PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY: The goal of the East Irondequoit Lancer Field Hockey program is to develop competitive teams by nurturing a culture of cooperation and mentorship across all levels of participation, all while continuing the program’s proud tradition of excellence, skill and sportsmanship among East Irondequoit student athletes.
Coach Fischer / Varsity
Coach Fischer | Varsity Co-Coach | 2016 Section V FH Division 2 Coach of the Year I 2023 Section V Division 2 Coaching Staff of the Year - Fall 2024 will be the 12th season Coach Fischer is the Lancer Field Hockey Varsity Coach (and the third year co-coaching with Coach Cooper). She holds the following certifications: NYS Professional Coaching Certification (including NYS First Aid & CPR/AED Certification for Coaches); National Federation of High Schools (NFHS.org) Level 3 Coach National Certification; Level 1 Coaching Certification from United States Field Hockey; Double-Goal Coach 1 Certification from the Positive Coaching Alliance. She also brings 10+ years’ playing experience to her role as coach. A former Lancer, she played field hockey at EHS for Coach Adams 1976-79 (varsity field hockey 1,2,3,4; captain 3,4; first team All County 3,4; Section V Champions 1979; Monroe County Field Hockey Player of the Year 1979; EHS Female Athlete of the Year 1980). After high school, Coach Fischer was a 4-year member/captain of the SUNY at Buffalo field hockey team (second on school’s all-time high scorer list at the time that she played for the University; Division III State Champions 1982; selected for All-State Team 1983; awarded University’s MVP for Field Hockey 1983 season). Coach Fischer was selected for Empire State Games Western NY Region field hockey teams (1979 Gold Medal scholastic division; 1982 open division). She played United States Field Hockey Association Club Hockey recreationally in Rochester, NY in the mid 1980s and in Boston, MA in the early 1990s. Outside of field hockey, Coach Fischer owns a marketing communications company serving corporate clients throughout the United States since 1992.
Coach Cooper / Varsity
Coach Cooper | Varsity Co-Coach I 2023 Section V Division 2 Coaching Staff of the Year - 2024 will be Coach Cooper’s third season as Varsity Co-Coach for Lancer Field Hockey. Coach Cooper was introduced to field hockey in the 5th grade and fell in love with the sport immediately. After completing 2 years on the modified team under Coach Adams, she played on the EHS JV team her Freshman year and was pulled up to Varsity for sectionals, making the starting line up as a defender. During the next 3 years on EHS Varsity, she was recognized as the MVP and also recognized for her sportsmanship with the Mark Siconolfi Sportsmanship award. During her Senior year as captain, she was awarded 1st team All County, All Greater Rochester and given All State recognition. Coach Cooper then went on to play Division 3 field hockey at St John Fisher College. She played in 20 games as a freshman, making three starts and started in all 22 games as a sophomore, junior and senior. In her sophomore year at St. John Fisher in 2015 Coach Cooper scored 2 goals for the Cardinals on offensive corners. She highlighted the St. John Fisher defense with many defensive saves, honored as 2nd team Empire 8 in 2015, the Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year in 2016 and Athlete of the Week in 2017. In Coach Cooper’s junior year, St. John Fisher field hockey had its winningest overall record with a 14 wins and only 2 losses overall record. The team was: undefeated (7-0) in conference play; #3 in the North Atlantic Region; host to the Empire 8 Championship Tournament as the #1 seed. That year, the team had a 13-game winning streak, including winning the Empire 8 Championship and competing in the NCAA Sweet 16. Coach Cooper completed her final field hockey season at St. John Fisher in 2017 as senior captain. Upon graduating from St. John Fisher with her BA in Psychology, Coach Cooper has continued to return to both her high school and college teams to assist and coach field hockey. In addition to being Assistant Varsity Field Hockey Coach at EHS, Coach Cooper is also a volunteer assistant coach for St. John Fisher field hockey.
Coach Adams / Modified
Coach Adams | Modified Coach | EHS Varsity Head Coach 1969-2008 - Coach Adams started the field hockey program at EHS in 1969 and continued coaching the varsity program through to 2008. She was also a respected and popular physical education instructor in East Irondequoit during those years. As Varsity Field Hockey Coach for 40+ years, Coach Adams and her teams earned 10 League Championships, 9 Section V Championships and 5 Regional Championships (making field hockey the winningest team in EHS history!). She is a graduate of SUNY Brockport where she earned both her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Health and Physical Education. She participated in field hockey at SUNY Brockport and for many years within the Finger Lakes Field Hockey Association. She was selected to coach Empire State Games’ Western NY Scholastic teams multiple times, and has been a coach at many field hockey camps and clinics over the years. In addition, Coach Adams has earned many honors for her distinguished coaching career and she was inducted into the SUNY Brockport Athletics Hall of Fame in 1993. East Irondequoit is fortunate to have an individual of Coach Adams’ stature heading up the Modified Field Hockey Program. She establishes a solid foundation among young players in areas of skill development, game knowledge and sportsmanship, all of which are hallmarks of the high school teams she coached for so many years.
