6 Reasons Why EIMS Modified Field Hockey (For Girls in Grades 7 & 8) Is a GREAT Choice for Players & Families

1. NO CUTS - Everyone who wants to play, gets to play.

2. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY - Most of our middle school players have never played field hockey (FH). For some, it is their very first team sport! We welcome EVERYONE who wants to give FH a try. We will happily teach you everything you need to know to play!

3. WE CAN PROVIDE EQUIPMENT - There is no burden on families to go out and purchase equipment for field hockey (FH). Our Lancer FH program works hard to earn the necessary funds so that we can provide FH sticks, shin guards, mouth guards and goggles to any player who needs them.

4. EXCELLENT & EXPERIENCED COACHES WHO CARE! - Modified Field Hockey (FH) is coached by EHS Varsity FH Coaches Fischer and Cooper. This coaching duo has more than 15 years combined high school coaching experience (and Coach Fischer also assisted legendary Lancer FH Coach Adams with EIMS Modified FH 2012-2024). Coaches Fischer and Cooper were named the Div 2 Section V Varsity Coaching Staff of the Year in Fall 2023. Their Varsity teams are perennial NYS Scholar Athlete Teams and also received the Section V FH Team Sportsmanship Award in 2014, 2019, 2022 and 2024. Most important, both Coach Fischer and Coach Cooper focus on positive coaching principles to help players learn in a happy and supportive environment.

5. CONSISTENT & RELIABLE PARENT COMMUNICATION - Coach Fischer manages all parent communication throughout the season with Sunday updates on the Lancer Field Hockey (FH) website. These updates present details on “The Week Ahead,” providing dates, times, locations, uniform & equipment requirements, etc. for all FH-related events (literally everything parents need to know in one place).

6. WE PRACTICE & PLAY OUR GAMES ON TURF - Field hockey (FH) is a sport that is best played on artificial turf. This season the Athletic Department has placed a priority on scheduling as many modified FH games and practices as possible on the EHS stadium turf. This will make the experience more fun for players, as they will be more successful in learning skills and will improve more quickly throughout the season. Learning to play on the turf also better prepares players who may choose to continue with Lancer FH in our fall high school season (all of which is played on turf).
